Welcome to the Card Sharks Wiki[]

Ace is high, deuce is low, call it right, and win the dough. Eights make you cry, aces make you shout, what television game show are we describing? You'll soon find out... this iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssss THE CARD SHARKS WIKI!

Yes, friends, this is the wiki all about the classic Goodson-Todman/Goodson TV game show Card Sharks. Card Sharks made its debut on NBC on April 24, 1978 with future Sale of the Century (1983 version) host Jim Perry as the host of the show. His version lasted until October 23, 1981. But around five years later, the show returned to the airwaves, this time on CBS with Newlywed Game host Bob Eubanks taking the helm. The CBS version lasted until March 31, 1989 and it even spawned a nighttime syndicated version which premiered on September 8, 1986 and lasted until June 5, 1987 with Real People host Bill Rafferty taking charge. Fourteen years later, on September 17, 2001, a new daily syndicated version aired with Pat Bullard taking over the helm with drastic changes that were completely different from the 70s and 80s versions. This lasted until January 11, 2002. But seventeen years later, the show is back again this time on ABC with Joel McHale and reverting back to its original format from the 70s and the 80s. This version premiered on June 12, 2019 and lasted until July 7, 2021 after being on the air for no longer than two seasons in total.

There was also a version of Card Sharks that aired as part of Gameshow Marathon on CBS in 2006 hosted by former talk show host Ricki Lake where it was a mixture of both the 70s and 80s formats.

It's the show where two contestants face-off in a game of five-card Hi-Lo (ten in the first and seven in the second seasons of the 2019 version respectively) with crazy survey questions (except the 2001 version where video clips were replaced instead) for the right to win thousands of dollars in cash (and later on, a brand new car). That's why they say, "It's the only game show on television where you can win a fortune on a turn of a single card."
